After the recent festivities over the Christmas holiday period, no doubt many of you are feeling the after effects of over indulgence. Not only does your weight begin to raise concerns but your health and fitness may well be suffering as a consequence.
One of the biggest disadvantages to our health in today’s society are televisions and computers and while I personally have no great interest in the offerings from the many broadcasting companies, the demands of producing two local community magazines and maintaining five website’s means I spend far too much time sitting in front of a computer. For anyone with a desire to shed a few pounds and gain that feel good factor, simply stepping up the activities in one’s life on a regular basis can make a huge difference all round and some of the best ways to achieve that are through simple outdoor activities such as walking and cycling.
Living in Yorkshire we have easy access to some of the most beautiful countryside in England and walking is a healthy activity which can also have positive effects on your mood and attitude. It offers a pleasant break from the normal day to day routines of our hectic lifestyles which will leave you feeling refreshed and regenerated.
Health and exercise need not become a physical burden if you stay active and eliminate as much of the sedentary lifestyle as possible. Visit the Yorkshire countryside, explore the beauty it has to offer, take photographs, write about your visit, and then consider submitting details of your day to Images of Yorkshire. Combining your day out with a sense of purpose will make your visit so much more enjoyable.
Photography offers an extra incentive to get out into the countryside though normally once our images are processed and printed they are resigned to an album or shoe box where they remain almost forgotten. Not everyone has the time or ability to produce a website where those images can be displayed for the enjoyment of others but the Images of Yorkshire website offers that opportunity to everyone.
I urge you to submit your photographs of Yorkshire, details about your visit or any other information that you feel would be of interest to visitors to this website. Forget about the television for a short while and do something constructive with your time that can help make Images of Yorkshire a true community website that we can all be a part of and enjoy together.
From my own projects I know how much everyone enjoys viewing photographs and hearing about other peoples lives and memories. Often it is too much trouble to make the effort to make your own contribution, to write about your own recollections. We pass on it because we don't feel we have the time to do anything about it and yet we will sit watching television or doing other meaningless tasks for the biggest part of the evening.
Images of Yorkshire can become a community website and while we may never meet you can be assured that you will become a part of a group of dedicated people intent on offering an outlet for everyone's personal creativity and expression.
Enhance your health, feel good about yourself and do something worthwhile.
I look forward to hearing from you.
