PICKERING
NORTH YORKSHIRE
Pickering is
the gateway to the North York Moors National Park and the southern
terminus of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. Overlooking the
town are the remains of an 11th-12th century castle while within it can
be found such attractions as the Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul
with its mediaeval wall paintings dating back to the 15th century and
the Beck Isle Museum of Rural life with a fascinating collection of
artefacts, furnishings, costumes and documents from Pickering and the
surrounding area.
