In 2008 Wigginton Methodist Church held a very successful Scarecrow Festival. During the course of the weekend over 1,500 people took part with more than £2800 being raised for charity. We had over 100 different scarecrows, which villagers had made, and four different trails for visitors to follow.

This year the event will be held on Saturday May 2nd, Sunday May 3rd and Monday May 4th

Trails will be available for purchase from 10.30 am until 4 30 pm on each of these days at Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church. There will be refreshments and light lunches served in the Methodist Church Hall until 6pm. There will be also be craft and children’s activities taking place throughout the day.

To register to make a scarecrow and include it on one of our trails (closing date 5th April 2009), please contact:
Richard or Roxana Freeman, Tel: 01904 767031, Email: roxirichfreeman@yahoo.co.uk.
Or if you would like any further information about the event please contact:
Rob or Steph Cooper, Tel:  01904 761605, Email: robcooper@cooper46.eclipse.co.uk

All proceeds from the 2009 festival will be split between the Phambili Project in Cape Town, South Africa, and a local community project. If you would like to nominate a local project to benefit from the funds raised at this event, please contact Rob or Steph Cooper as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you!
